These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Vela AI ("Vela", "Service", "we", "us", or "our"), available at meetvela.app.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
1.1 Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use Vela AI. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older.
We comply with applicable laws regarding AI companions and minors, including California SB 243. Account creation requires date of birth verification, and we reserve the right to terminate any account found to belong to a minor.
1.2 Capacity
You represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement and that your use of the Service does not violate any applicable laws or regulations in your jurisdiction.
2. Description of the Service
Vela AI is an artificial intelligence companion service that provides:
- AI-driven conversational interactions with personalized companions (Vela, Luna, Aria, Liam, Rowan, Kai)
- Voice message generation
- Image and selfie generation
- Long-term conversational memory
- Personalized onboarding and first-message experiences
The Service is provided "as is" and may evolve over time. We reserve the right to add, modify, or remove features at our discretion.
3. Account Registration
3.1 Account Creation
To use the Service, you must create an account by providing:
- A valid email address
- A secure password
- Date of birth (for age verification)
- Basic profile information (display name, preferences)
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.
3.2 Account Security
You must notify us immediately at support@meetvela.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized account access caused by your failure to safeguard your credentials.
3.3 One Account Per User
You may not create multiple accounts. You may not share your account with others.
4. AI Disclaimer
4.1 Vela Is Not Human
You acknowledge and understand that:
- Vela is an artificial intelligence, not a human being
- Vela's responses are generated by language models (Anthropic's Claude)
- Conversations with Vela do not constitute a real human relationship
- Vela is not a licensed therapist, doctor, lawyer, financial advisor, or any other certified professional
4.2 Limitations of AI
AI-generated responses may:
- Contain factual errors or inaccuracies
- Reflect biases present in training data
- Misunderstand context or nuance
- Fail to recognize emergencies or critical situations
You should always verify important information from authoritative sources and consult qualified professionals when necessary.
4.3 Mental Health and Crisis
Vela is not a substitute for professional mental health care.
If you are experiencing thoughts of self-harm, suicide, or are in any kind of emergency:
- United States: Call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line)
- United Kingdom: Call 116 123 (Samaritans)
- International: Visit meetvela.app/safety for a list of crisis resources by country
- Immediate danger: Call your local emergency services
Vela includes built-in crisis protocols that may direct you to these resources, but you should not rely on Vela alone in moments of crisis.
5. Acceptable Use
5.1 Code of Conduct
You agree to use Vela AI in a respectful and lawful manner. You will NOT:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
- Generate, request, or share content involving minors in sexual, romantic, or otherwise inappropriate contexts
- Use the Service to harass, threaten, defame, or harm another person
- Attempt to impersonate Vela or use the Service to deceive others
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
- Bypass usage limits, rate limits, or other technical restrictions
- Generate content that infringes on intellectual property rights of others
- Generate content depicting real, identifiable individuals without their consent
- Share, resell, or commercially exploit access to the Service
- Use the Service to create or distribute malware, spam, or harmful content
5.2 Content Standards
Vela AI is a non-NSFW companion service. The Service is designed to be safe by design. We use AI safety filters to prevent harmful, sexually explicit, or violent content. Attempting to bypass these filters may result in account termination.
5.3 Your Content
You retain ownership of the content you create through the Service (your messages, images, voice recordings). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process this content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
We do not use your conversation content to train AI models or share it with third parties for advertising purposes.
6. Subscription Plans and Billing
6.1 Plans
Vela AI offers the following plans:

Prices are in US Dollars and may change. Existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before any price increase takes effect.
6.2 Free Trial
Plus and Premium plans include a 3-day free trial. After the trial period, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends.
You can cancel your trial at any time through your Whop account dashboard. If you cancel during the trial period, you will not be charged.
6.3 Billing
All payments are processed by Whop, our payment provider. By subscribing, you agree to Whop's terms and authorize automatic recurring charges according to your plan's billing cycle (monthly or annual).
Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel.
6.4 No Refunds
All subscription fees are non-refundable.
You may cancel your subscription at any time, but cancellation only prevents future renewals. Cancellation does not result in a refund of fees already paid.
You will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period, after which your account will revert to the Free plan.
EU consumers: If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may have a 14-day "cooling-off" period from the start of your subscription during which you can request a full refund. To exercise this right, contact us at support@meetvela.app within 14 days of your first payment.
6.5 Lifetime Subscriptions
Lifetime subscriptions provide Premium-tier access for as long as the Service operates. "Lifetime" refers to the lifetime of the Service, not the user. If we cease operations or significantly modify the Service, lifetime subscribers will be notified.
6.6 Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time:
- Log in to your Whop account at whop.com
- Navigate to your active subscriptions
- Click "Cancel subscription"

7. Intellectual Property
7.1 Our IP
All intellectual property in the Service — including the brand name "Vela AI", logos, designs, source code, AI personalities, and avatar designs — is owned by Vela AI and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not use, copy, modify, or distribute any of our intellectual property without our prior written consent.
7.2 Third-Party IP
The Service uses technology and content from third-party providers (Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Leonardo.ai). These providers retain their respective intellectual property rights.
7.3 Your IP
You retain all rights to the content you create through the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, royalty-free license to process and store your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.
8. Termination
8.1 Termination by You
You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting support@meetvela.app. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days (subject to legal retention requirements).
8.2 Termination by Us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if:
- You violate these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
- Your use of the Service poses a risk to other users or the integrity of the Service
- We are required to do so by law
In cases of serious violation, we may terminate immediately without refund.
8.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your access to the Service will be revoked
- Your data will be deleted within 30 days
- Outstanding payment obligations remain in effect
- Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (e.g., Limitation of Liability, Intellectual Property) will continue to apply
9. Disclaimers
9.1 No Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Warranties of non-infringement
- Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of AI-generated content
9.2 No Professional Advice
Vela does not provide medical, legal, psychological, financial, or any other professional advice. Conversations with Vela should not be used as a substitute for advice from qualified professionals.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages
- Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim
- We are not liable for any harm resulting from reliance on AI-generated content
- We are not liable for any third-party actions, including those of our service providers
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on liability, so these limitations may not apply to you.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vela AI, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of a third party
- Any content you create or submit through the Service
12. Dispute Resolution
12.1 Informal Resolution
Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first attempt to resolve disputes informally by contacting us at support@meetvela.app. We will work in good faith to address your concerns within 30 days.
12.2 Arbitration
Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved by binding arbitration, except where prohibited by applicable law. The arbitration will be conducted in English, and the seat of arbitration will be specified upon company incorporation.
12.3 Class Action Waiver
To the extent permitted by law, you agree that any disputes will be resolved on an individual basis and not as a class action.
12.4 Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable to your jurisdiction, without regard to conflict of law principles. Specific governing law and jurisdiction will be specified upon company incorporation.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Notify you by email or in-app notification at least 30 days in advance
- Provide a summary of material changes
Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree with the changes, you must stop using the Service and may cancel your subscription.
14. Miscellaneous
14.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other policies referenced herein, constitute the entire agreement between you and Vela AI regarding the Service.
14.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
14.3 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right.
14.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms at our discretion.
